Electrical engineering is the domain of electricity, from generation to transmission and distribution, industrial and household consumption and use. It is a dynamic technology that is developed thanks to the momentum provided by new technologies.
The need to move towards a sustainable society that brings together progress and respect for the environment stimulates research in the field of electrical energy. Because of current interest in electric mobility and renewable energies, the EPSEVG has chosen these two pathways to specialisation.

Common access
Access to industrial engineering degrees at the UPC’s Vilanova i la Geltrú School of Engineering is via the same pre-enrolment process for the 200 places available, which are divided between the following degrees:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (40 places)
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Electronics and Automatic Control Engineering (40 places)
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (120 places)
Choosing a degree
The first academic year is common to all of the degrees. Once students have passed it, they can apply for admission to the degrees they wish to take, in order of preference. The School assigns students a specialisation in view of their applications and their academic records at the School.
Students who have passed the first academic year on industrial engineering degrees at the EPSEVG may be admitted to the second academic year of the bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design and Product Development Engineering, depending on their academic records and the number of places available.

Check the recommendations for the order of enrollment of the subjects, as well as the semester in which teaching is offered. Semester 1 (Q1) runs from September to January and Semester 2 (Q2) runs from February to June.

Cross-curricular electives

- Supervision and management of engineering projects related to the design, analysis, construction, verification and maintenance of systems and equipment for generating, transporting and distributing electrical energy.
- Analysis, design, testing and control of domestic and industrial electrical installations.
- Management of electrical power systems, installations and drives.
- Design, installation and maintenance of electro mechanics, automation and industrial production lines.

Tutorial action on each degree is conceived as a service for students in which tutors guide, inform and advise them on how the University works and how it is regulated.
Their main functions are listed below.
- To advise students on the following:
- Planning their enrolment in accordance with their academic progress and the recommendations for enrolment..
- Improving their academic performance (study methods and use of learning resources such as the School’s library and other services).
- Assessment processes (for subjects and for curricular assessment of initial and final stages).
- Taking optional credits or having them recognised, external placements and participation in national and international mobility programmes.
- Choosing and carrying out the bachelor’s or master’s thesis.
- To direct students to other people or services at the School to solve specific issues.
- To collect students’ proposals for improving teaching and degrees.
In the Tutorial Action Plan, each student on each degree is assigned a tutor from the group of tutors for the corresponding stage:
- Initial stage if the student has not yet passed 120 ECTS credits
- Final stage if the student has passed 120 ECTS credits
Tutors for the initial stage teach in the first half of the degree and tutors for the final stage teach in the second half of the degree.
