RDI - Technological Innovation
About us
A high-calibre technology centre that is a world leader in the technologies the School specialises in, recognised in science and industry, and comprised of multidisciplinary research groups.
Our mission
To improve and increase the competitiveness, progress and technological capacity of companies and other organisations through joint projects, provision of advanced technology services, and technology transfer.
What we offer
The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya offers innovation, talent and knowledge transfer. By focusing on these objectives, the UPC's de Vilanova i la Geltrú Campus contributes to the country’s technological development, strengthening relations with the business environment by providing tailored technology solutions, specialised training, and other services, facilities and spaces.
Research at the Vilanova Campus is conducted mainly by research groups, which receive funding from public institutions (national and/or European) ) to work on projects, and also enter into agreements with companies to carry out knowledge transfer activities. The main activities include:
- RDI and applied research, technology development and innovation – conducted independently and in collaboration with companies
- Market-oriented RDI technology for increasing business competitiveness
- Joint RDI and applied research projects (company + UPC research group)
- Joint RDI and applied research collaboration agreements (company + UPC research group)
What's our background?
Research at the UPC campus in Vilanova has expanded in recent years:
- We belong to a network of research centres and groups linked to the UPC, which attracts more funding from companies than any other Spanish university.
- We’re part of the university that obtained the most funding under the Sixth Framework Programme of the European Union.
- We’re the leading Spanish university when it comes to licensed patents and creation ofspin-offs. A total of twelve spin-offs have emerged from the UPC – three from research groups based at the UPC Vilanova Campus.
This has been achieved with the involvement and support of the Catalan public administration, and, in particular, of institutions, businesspeople and other individuals engaged in pursuing innovation.
Location
Research groups are distributed in various campus buildings based on their area of expertise.
Building A (EPSEVG) – The main campus building houses several research groups: AMPC, Accessibility Chair, GAECE, SEPIC and Number Theory.
Building C (CTVG) -This building is home to two research groups: CDAL and SARTI
Building E (Neàpolis) – Four research groups work on the second floor of the building: CETpD, CRAAX, INSIDE and SARTI.
Building F (LAB) – This building, located at the Port of Vilanova i la Geltrú, houses the Applied Bioacoustics Laboratory (LAB).
